I had planned on blogging some wedding photos this evening but can't find the CD. After blaming Rick for losing it in his organized mess of an office, I remembered he gave it to me a couple of weeks ago and I've misplaced it in the move. (Sorry Rick)
So instead, I share with you a Utah Valley experience I had this evening. Everyone in my house, except me- knock on wood, is sick. I came home from work to fix dinner and realized we needed bread and milk. I went to Macy's (Walmart is closer but that place makes me grouchy).
Being new to the area, I don't know the layout of Macy's very well. I prefer organic milk but couldn't see any in the regular milk section. I wondered if they had it in a natural food section. So I grabbed some regular milk, just in case, and sought out the nearest store employee. Here is our conversation.
Me: Excuse me, do you carry organic milk
Employee: What is that?
Me: Organic milk (as I point at my gallon of 1% hormone infested stuff)
Employee: All I can think of is Rice Milk.
Me: No, it's like regular milk, but organic. (again showing him what milk looks like)
Employee: (with complete confusion) I don't know what you're talking about. I've never even heard of that.
And then he just walked away. I completely stumped him. I wonder, is this a Macy's issue? Utah Valley? or just the employee? I was in a hurry as it was already 7:00, so I bought what was in my hand and came home.

Hi Everyone
I have nothing specific to say, just that I've missed blogging and I'm ready to come back. I keep thinking that I can't blog until I have time to sit down and go through all the wedding photos. That may not happen for a bit (maybe this weekend...maybe not). So, here I sit at my work computer, ready to go home for the day and I just was hit with the need to blog.
So... hi. I've been sporadically reading everyone's blogs, so I'm somewhat up on your lives. Here's the basic 411 on me.
Married-loving it
Hoping to have my condo ready to list by Friday (fingers crossed)
Things at the new (Rick's) place are shaping up and I'm feeling almost organized.
I'm commuting now from Orem to SLC every day. Not ideal, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Actually, leaving my condo has been harder than I thought. I'm giving up the space that has been my space for the last 11 years. I've made it just how I want it, including my new kitchen. And now I'm just turning it over to a stranger who will redo everything anyway. I've also loved living downtown- as I've mentioned before. I do like the new neighborhood and it is nice to have a warm neighborhood feel instead of a sterile condo building. I will not miss sharing property with strangers! (People are crazy.) Also on the plus side- where I loved coming home and having my space, it is also nice to go home to people who are excited to see me. Rick is the cutest thing ever and usually has dinner ready by the time my long trek home is over. So, as I've learned over and over, life is trade offs. I gave up one thing for another, and it's a good thing.
I was talking to a friend the other day about how stressed I was with all this change coming into my life. When I moved back to Utah from Colorado in 1996, I freaked out buying my condo. I did not want to plant roots. I loved being able to pick up and go whenever I wanted. I thrived on change. Since that time, I have become comfortable in my life. Not many changes and not many complaints. Good job; good home; fun trips; great friends; steady, stable life. Last fall the idea of all this change freaked me out. Now that I'm in the middle of it, I remember why I loved change so much. It is invigorating. Nice to know I can get out of my comfort zone (more than just for a few weeks traveling somewhere new) and find joy in new things.
Alright- hopefully I'll get some pictures posted and the wedding wrap up on here in the next week.

I'm Still Here
I've been a slacker on the blogging lately. I just logged on to say the wedding is ONE WEEK AWAY! Yahoo! And that one day, in the not so distant future, I will back to blogging regularly. :)

A Day on Tatooine
We had such a fun day yesterday. We went out to the Salt Flats to take bridal photos. Heidi joined us as my assistant- to help me on with my dress and make sure everything looked good for photos. The excitement started when Rick realized he had left his shoes at home. A quick stop at the Payless in Draper and we were back on the road. This actually turned out well as his nice shoes didn't have to get in the mud and the cheap shoes turned out to look really good with the tux.

The photographers image of this is focused on the flowers with us a little blurry in the background.

The adventure continued as, after about the first hour, we returned to the car. We had left a couple of doors open and the battery was dead. We were about 1/2 mile from the highway- basically stranded in the middle of nowhere. We finished the shoot and then had to call a tow truck to come from Wendover. We made it home a little later than planned, but I think we all had a great time.
It was a fun and memorable day. Thanks everyone!
A few minutes later, we were cruising down I-15 and saw this...

This guy was riding this wheelie about 20 seconds going at least 75 mph! It was scary. He did it twice then sped off. The second time it really looked like he was going to lose it as he was swerving barely staying out of the next lane. Insane!
We scheduled this shoot over a month ago, so had no idea what kind of weather we'd be in for. It turned out to be a perfect day. It was a little chilly, but not nearly as cold as I was expecting. We had beautiful sunlight and not too muddy of a ground (although I think my satin shoes are ruined- - worth it).
Here are a few photos from Rick's and Heidi's phones. We bought the copywrite from our photographer, but we will touch up those photos before presenting. I love that Rick can do that. I'm sure you will notice on our engagement photos that you'll get with the announcement that there is NOT a zit on my left cheek. Photoshop rocks!

Why I Love LMN
Ah... Lifetime Movie Network. I'm a fan. Here's why.
1) Predictable Plot. Often I just have a few minutes at home to eat or relax. I really don't want to get involved in anything that will suck me in. I can flip on a good Lifetime movie and walk away at any time because I know how it will end. In college, I used to joke when I walked in on one of my roommates watching a Lifetime flick. "Is this the my-daughter-is-a-teenage-prostitute or my-abusive-ex-got-out-of-jail-and-I-will-eventually-have-to-kill-him show?" Either way. Always a good laugh.
2) If I ever want to see the beginning or end of a show that I missed, it will replay approximately 187 times in a month. No DVR necessary.
3) Full of B actors from the 80's. I'm sad I can no longer catch a rerun of Charlie's Angels, but never fear, I can get a solid dose of Jacqueline Smith, Cheryl Ladd, and occasionally even Farrah. Do you wonder what happened to Laura Engles? I belive she lost her memory and then fell in love with a mysterious stranger. It's all on Lifetime.
4) It annoys most everyone else in the room. :) I also achieve this with the Osmond Greatest Hits blasting from my ipod. Perhaps this is why I've lived alone for so long.
