My 'hood
Here are my adventures walking home from work today. The neighborhood is a little scary. I often plan my street crossings based on who is on the other corner. Today, I was surrounded. Shady characters on all sides. But they're nice people and like to try to chat with me as I walk by. Sometimes, it's quite flattering. Who else can say they've been told "Girl, you've got it" by a smelly guy who just drank a whole bottle of Listerine. (Well probably anybody who walks in the area by my work, but sometimes a girl just has to take what she can get.) Today was freezing! Where do all these people go when it's so cold. One guy was sitting against Ghetto Albertson's yelling at people to give him a dollar. Crazy-yes, but still, I'm sure his face was just as frozen as mine. A couple of weeks ago, a coworker came back from lunch and said some guy was bugging her to give him a hug. Once I got followed by some guy screaming at me about the %#@* Mormon's who never give him money. Are you sufficiently scared for me? Don't be. I really feel pretty safe as long as it's light out. And only once was there a murder on the lawn across the street overnight. Mom- I hope you're not reading this. :)

Betsy, you make me laugh...I should be scared for you, but your writting was so nicely done that instead I feel all warm and snuggly. lol
Do you remember that lady at the 125th street subway exit who would follow us for blocks asking for money. Were you with us when we went into that McDonalds right by the subway and she followed us in there and kept asking for money while we were ordering our burgers? Yes, good times.
Alright Bets, I am telling mom!!
I liked the story too. I miss all the crazy people. I really do.
I have a story of when I walked to work. We lived on 1st south and 5th east. Work was Borders at the mall. I got the same beggers asking me for money but one day was a bad day for me. I was making $7 bucks a hour and hated my job. So on my way into work the same guy asked me for money and I layed into him about getting a suckie job just like me.
Aaron makes fun of me about it all the time.
